The Fellowship of the Least Coin (FLC) is a global ecumenical movement of prayer for justice, peace and reconciliation, that is committed to the wellbeing of women, girls and their communities all over the world.
The FLC was born in Asia, a little over a decade after WWII in 1956, out of a deep longing for peace and reconciliation. In this prayer movement, Christian women pray individually or in groups for peace, justice and reconciliation in their lives, communities, countries and the wider world. Then, they offer a least coin as a token of that prayer. In the Philippines, women set aside a peso. In India, women set aside a rupee. In the United States, women set aside a penny. In Canada, women sent aside a nickel.
Once a year, these least coin offerings are collected by ecumenical Christian women’s groups or Christian churches, and are forwarded to the International Committee for the Fellowship of the Least Coin (ICFLC). The ICFLC then receives and reviews grant applications from grassroots women groups that educate, train, and empower women and girls, and scholarship applications from young women from developing countries who are applying to post-secondary education institutions. Together, through our prayers and least coins, we journey together with our ecumenical partners, sisters and with God to create anew the world that God so loves.
In 2026, we are celebrating 70 years of faithfully holding on to each other in sisterhood and in prayer. The FLC deeply welcomes and thanks God for our partnership with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Canada as our Canadian partner. We are joyful and are so blessed that we can be companions on the journey towards more Justice, Peace and Reconciliation in our world.
