Our prayers for Nebraska
We extend our condolences and prayers to the Christian Church In Nebraska as they mourn the sudden passing of their regional minister, Rev. Chris Morton, with special prayers of peace for his closest family members, Julie, Luc, and Amy.
As a new member of the college of regional ministers, I have only known him about a year. But he sat next to me at my first meeting. He explained what was happening and why, and he advocated for others both passionately and gently in a balanced way I will forever admire.
He rests in peace and will rise in glory. May those he left behind feel God's peace which Chris lived to proclaim. Chris's own Facebook biography summarizes what we all can learn from him, even if you didn't have the blessing of meeting him:
"I try to be a loving partner, father, sibling, uncle, friend, colleague, and minister."
Humble and ambitious at the same time. I can only speak to colleague and minister, but I can say he showed exactly how to succeed at loving in those roles.
