Giving Thanks
Our thanksgiving magnifies the good the Lord is doing. It makes it easier for us to see, it makes it easier for others to see.

The 175th Anniversary of Mapleton Church of Christ
These walls, these windows, this sanctuary, have been witness to stories long forgotten by us but still known by God. These are stories of resilience and tragedy, of joy and sorrow, misunderstanding and cooperation, humour, humility, grace, and compassion. These stories are the threads that connect one generation to the next … stretching back through time and reaching forward beyond us. Each in, its own way, fueled by the desire to nurture the good within us. To live in Christ-like thought and action, be the neighbour we wish to have, share our talents and time to lift each other up.

Reflections on Orange Shirt Day from a Christian and a Parent
A woman passes by, “Aren’t these kids too young?” and I wonder the same thing as my orange-shirted child enters a room full of their orange-shirted peers.

To our Latter-day Saint friends and neighbours
On behalf of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Canada, I offer condolences and solidarity with members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints both in Canada and around the world on this sad day,

In Memory of Joe Driskill
We are shocked and saddened to share that our beloved Rev. Dr. Joseph Denver Driskill of London, Ontario, died last night at seventy-nine years old.
Rev. Dr. Driskill was a member of Hillcrest Christian Church in Toronto and has also been involved at St. Andrew's First United Church in London. Joe never relented from church service and was actively serving on the College of the Churches of Christ in Canada.

National Pastor’s Statement on US Threats
As the president of the United States makes patently false statements about Canada repeatedly, openly says he wishes to use economic pressure to destroy our country, and relentlessly speaks of annexation, I call upon you, as a pastor to Canadians, and as your brother, to rebuke this loudly and frequently.

Our prayers for Nebraska
We join in prayer and solidarity with Disciples in Nebraska as they mourn the passing of their regional minister, Rev. Chris Morton.

St. John the Baptist and Canada
As Canada Day approaches, I am acutely aware of the mixed feelings we have across Canada and thus indeed within our church. Canada is a symbol of colonialism and oppression to many, a country our ancestors resisted for many, a country our ancestors built for many, a country many of chose in our own lifetime as a place of greater freedom or security. What then as people of faith are we called to do on such holidays?

Do you not perceive it?
It is a bold prophetic act to tell people in exile to not dwell on the past, to not think about how the good old days were so much better. Nostalgia can be deceiving. The primary sources historians unearth from the past show clearly that rosy views of how perfect things used to be are usually selective memory at best. But for the people to who Isaiah prophesied, well, they may have been a genuine exception, truly people for whom the past had been better.
