Safety in Church Community
We are committed to making church and church-affiliated activities safe for all.
If you are the victim of or aware of any abuse within our church communities, please immediately contact the national pastor by email at jd@canadadisciples.org or phone at (514) 475-1704. If the national pastor is the person about whom you are concerned, or you feel he is too close the person who is, please contact the office of the General Minister and President at (317) 635-3100.
If you think civil law may have been violated, contact local civil authorities. Please know that national and general church staff are mandatory reporters should we become aware of certain types of suspected abuse.
The church has options to support and protect and hold people accountable for problematic behaviours that fall short of being illegal, so if you are hurt, please reach out for help. If a situation has made you uncomfortable enough to wonder if it was inappropriate, seek outside guidance.
Bullying, abuse, and unethical actions can happen to anyone, and can be perpetrated by anyone
Church members, one time visitors, and leaders all can be victims or abusers. It is our collective responsibility as a community to protect one another. Leaders can include people in positions of power and influence, whether volunteer or staff, whether they are lay or ordained. We take all experiences seriously.
